Jakarta, 6 June 2022 – Sinar Mas Agribusiness and Food has won Overall Winner in the Sustainable Business Award (SBA) Indonesia 2020/21 for its outstanding and comprehensive efforts in corporate sustainability. The Company was also awarded the winner for Supply Chain Management, Land Use & Biodiversity, Business Ethics & Responsibility, and received Significant Achievement on Sustainability Strategy for the SBA Indonesia 2020/21.

In supply chain traceability, the Company has achieved 95 percent traceability to the plantations by 2020. The Company ensures that it buys from sustainably managed and traceable sources following GAR Social and Environmental Policy (GSEP). In addition, the Company is conserving 79,900 hectares per December 2021, or an area larger than Singapore, of High Conservation Value (HCV) and High Carbon Stock (HCS) land. With suppliers, the Company further supports the conservation of more than 100,000 hectares of forest.
This year’s SBA awards were presented to companies across 12 categories, including strategy and sustainability management, workforce, community, energy management, water management, waste and material productivity, climate change, supply chain management, land use biodiversity, business responsibility and ethics, stakeholder engagement and materiality, and United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Since 2012, Global Initiatives has organised the Sustainable Business Awards (SBA) to recognise companies for their sustainable performance on environmental responsibility while encouraging them to continue their best efforts. The SBAs cover five markets, including Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, and the Philippines.
