RSPO

PT SMART Tbk (SMART) has progressed in our RSPO certification plans. In September 2011, we achieved RSPO certification for 14,955 ha of plantations and one mill in North Sumatra. These were the first palm oil operations from SMART to receive RSPO certification.

To date, one oleochemical plant, three refineries, four kernel crushing plants, two bulking stations, 12 mills and 103,626 ha of our supplying estates (including 4,224 ha of plasma estates) have received RSPO certification. In order to comply with ongoing changes jn Indonesian Sustainable Palm Oil regulations regarding the land ownership certification, we are extending the time frame for completion of RSPO certification for the remaining mills (as at 30 June 2010). Under the current regulatory conditions, we expect to complete the RSPO certification process by 2020.

Golden Agri-Resources (GAR), SMART’s holding company, has received RSPO certification for 260,606 ha of plantations including smallholder plantations of 51,149 ha, 29 mills, nine kernel crushing plants, five refineries, seven bulking stations and an oleochemical plant. Total units to be certified by 2020 consists of 39 mills and 385,004 ha of plantations which include 55,021 ha of plasma plantations (as at 30 June 2010). Palm oil operations established after 30 June 2010 will be part of a separate time-bound plan.
