Join us in our mission to feed and fuel
the world, sustainably
From overseeing vast sustainably managed plantations in Indonesia, to innovating in our three state-of-the-art R&D institutions, to analysing markets and executing quick-fire trades, PT SMART Tbk (SMART) offers numerous opportunities. If you’re a fresh graduate looking to kickstart your career or an experienced professional looking for greener pastures, we have a place for you.
Today’s agricultural industry, especially here at SMART, utilises sophisticated technology, big data and AI. Our plants are born in labs, before they are grown in the fields. Agriculture is a sunrise industry. In Indonesia, it remains the largest employer, creating millions of jobs. At SMART, those opportunities extend beyond national borders, connecting you to a global team that spans 14 countries and reaches customers in more than 110 markets.
Agribusiness offers tremendous opportunities for those who seek new challenges, want to develop their professional skills, and are inspired to help feed and fuel the world, sustainably. SMART is searching for dedicated and dynamic individuals to drive our downstream businesses and to join us in pioneering sustainable palm production.

I enjoy the process of development – from understanding customer/consumer requirements, to developing prototypes, and then having the product ready for mass production. It helps that I have access to international-standard high-tech equipment and facilities at our Marunda R&D centre, which makes my job more interesting. In this role, I also get to work with all types of customers, meet chefs, bakers, technical teams and join the development process. The most satisfying part of my job is when the end-product is well accepted by consumers.
There are many values I have learned since joining – one of them that still impresses me is the strong emphasis on continuous improvement and innovation. This shows how serious the company is in developing the best products, including oil palm seeds and ramets. Research is not something that you can get quick short-term benefits from but is an important long-term investment to develop something new and better for the world, and I’m fortunate to be a part of it.
I love the experience that the company has given me. While carrying out my tasks, I get the chance to travel and visit our company sites around Indonesia, meeting people from different cultures and working together with them.
For me, this company is a school, where you are both a teacher and a student at the same time. It is a place where you deliver, share and show your expertise, and a place where you study and learn something new.”
