Shortening compounds are composed of deodorized animal and vegetable fats mechanically blended to give a final product of acceptable elasticity and satisfactory baking quality. There are two types of solid shortening compounds used in the Navy GM—general-purpose shortening and bakery shortening (emulsifier-type).

Shortening is ideal for pastry, since it blends well with the flour. It can be stored at room temperature for up to a year.The prestige status these brands control in made possible by the controled qualtity of the palm oil products produced under stringent manufacturing standars, and our ability to effectively communicate and dedicate these qualities to our consumers.
