1997 Reached CPO production of 158,000 tonnes. Engaged in a joint venture for aerial manuring.
1998 Completed installation of SAP system.
1999 Changed name to PT Sinar Mas Agro Resources and Technology Tbk
(abbreviated PT SMART Tbk).
2002 Started to concentrate on the core business by divesting tea and banana plantations. Received ISO 9001 certification for quality management of mills.
2003 Reached CPO production of 343,000 tonnes. Received ISO 14001 certification for environmental management.
2005 Received Superbrands status and Indonesian Customer Loyalty Award for FILMA. Completed conversion of US$205 million shareholder's loan into equity. Became an active member of Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil.
2006 Received Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point certification for food safety standards at refineries. SMART Research Institute received ISO 17025 certification for competence of testing and calibration laboratories.
2008 Refineries were accredited with ISO 22000 certification for food safety management. Expanded downstream capacity in South Kalimantan by 300,000 tonnes per annum.
2009 Reached record CPO production of 640,000 tonnes. Received Human Resources Excellence Award.
2010 Achieved historical high net income of Rp 1.26 trillion. Received Primaniyarta award as an outstanding performance exporter from the Department of Trade and the agriculture products exporter award from the Department of Agriculture. Received awards as Indonesian Most Admired Knowledge Enterprise Winner 2010 and as an integrated learning organisation. Commenced operation of a new refinery in West Java with capacity of 800 tonnes per day.
